Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis for Children and Teens

Children can be easily hypnotized as long as they have a good understanding of the English language. By age 5, kids can be hypnotized to alleviate fears such as going to the dentist, nightmares, learning problems, selective cases of bedwetting, epilepsy, tics and behavioral problems associated with tension, stress and environmental difficulties. In addition, the following has responded positively to hypnosis: nail-biting, stuttering, dyslexia, exam anxiety, thumb sucking, asthma, conduct disorder.

Children have very active imaginations and can easily turn reality into fantasy. They can play pretend and see themselves as other characters without their disorders. They are eagerly curious and want to learn, often without bias or criticism. Because of their non-judgmental attitudes, children make great hypnotic subjects.

Hypnosis is very safe for children. Not only will hypnosis relax your child, but s/he will will increase his/her self-esteem and confidence--a transformation that parents are amazed to see.

When children are old enough to communicate at an adult level (usually in late adolescent), their critical factor functions much like an adults'. They are not as easily hypnotized with pretend and fantasy techniques and are usually hypnotized using techniques that are used for adults. Having said that, this age group is one of the most hypnotizable of all groups when the right technique is used.

Children, adolescents and teens would benefit greatly from hypnosis. Many misconceptions, fears and limiting beliefs are created and molded at a young age. Hypnotherapy can correct these false beliefs before they are more permanently set in the child's mind as values. These values and beliefs govern their (mis)behaviour and will take more effort to correct when they are older.
